Win Big and Help in the Effort to Build Affordable Housing at the Charity Series of Poker Tournament at Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady

Players will compete for $5,000 Grand Prize in The House That Cards Built tournament

The first Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) tournament to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County will take place Thursday, August 29 at the Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady Event Center. All net proceeds from The House That Cards Built will go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County to assist in their mission to build safe, decent, affordable homes and provide support services to promote successful home purchase and ownership.

Players will compete for a Grand Prize of $5,000 cash, along with $1,000 cash prizes for tournament chip leader and most rebuys. Final table, bounty, and other prizes will also be awarded, along with a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. There will be a VIP reception with hors d'oeuvres and complimentary cocktails for tournament players. Guests who aren't playing the tournament are welcome to join the reception for a donation of $50.

The House That Cards Built tournament is open to the public, and players can register in advance at the Rivers poker room, main cage, or throughout the day of the tournament at the Event Center. Players must have a valid ID and a Rush Rewards player card (available at no charge) to enter. Media are welcome, and representatives from Habitat for Humanity and CSOP will be available for interviews.

"This event is special for me because my involvement with nonprofits started with Habitat for Humanity. I organized a $10 fundraiser tournament when I served as Vice President of Habitat at The College of New Jersey" said CSOP Founder Matt Stout. "Two years later I started playing poker for a living and using poker as a tool to give back on a large scale quickly became my goal. We've now helped raise over $1.4 million and it's extremely fulfilling to help worthy organizations like Habitat raise enough money to fulfill their mission."
